Modular Railroading at its Best
|
My two favorite railroads, the Western Maryland and the Maryland Midland, have a unique relationship, occupying the same track, yet separated by 45 years.
Here are some shots from my modules. I have 3 straight modules that have an irregular track pattern, plus a corner module.
In the never ending quest to make these things even lighter, we have borrowed on a multitude of methods, and came up with a new module construction method, which is being sceniced by my oldest son Michael. Mike's 4 ft straight module has been nicknamed, Louanne (or Project Lauan). Project Lauan is all about making viable, super light weight modules out of 5mm Lauan plywood and blue or pink foam insulation board. Look for an upcoming installment of the web page to go into greater depth with photos and construction tips. Also we will soon begin construction of an "inside out" corner module, using the same construction methods as Louanne. Stay tuned !
Cya again soon!
